Blanchard Valley Hospital plays an essential role in caring for the urgent health needs of Findlay and our surrounding communities. The department cares for more than 36,000 patients each year as a verified Level III Trauma Center, including serious injuries.

A team of board certified emergency medicine physicians work in cooperation with other in-house specialists to provide efficient, quality treatment. The hospital also has on-site pediatricians 24 hours a day to attend to children's special needs.

Heart Attack
Blanchard Valley Hospital is certified by the American Society of Chest Pain Centers as a Cycle II Chest Pain Center with PCI. This is a designation earned by demonstrating superior management of heart attack victims.

Emergency intervention for heart attacks starts in our Emergency Department and is coordinated with cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons. Our physicians are nationally recognized for their success in treating individuals experiencing a heart attack. The Blanchard Valley HeartCare Center has been recognized by the American College of Cardiology to have one of the highest success rates in the U.S. for treating heart attacks.

Time is critical for anyone experiencing the symptoms of a heart attack. Waiting too long before going to the emergency department may increase the amount of heart damage; research suggests that the average person waits roughly two hours before seeking care. Getting immediate treatment can make a big difference in the quality of life after recovery.

Depending on the type and severity of the heart attack, the cardiac team takes patients from the emergency department directly to a catheterization lab to administer treatments to clear blocked arteries and restore blood and oxygen flow to damaged heart tissue. The Blanchard Valley HeartCare team and fully equipped cardiac catheterization suite is available 24 hours a day. Patients are rapidly evaluated and a course of treatment is begun.

The national standard for treatment of a heart attack is a balloon angioplasty within 90 minutes; best practice facilities meet a 60 minute therapeutic window. Blanchard Valley currently treats heart attacks via balloon angioplasty within 46 minutes.

Trauma:
Blanchard Valley Hospital is verified by the American College of Surgeons as a Level III Trauma Center. This is a designation earned by demonstrating superior management of trauma.

Because we have all board certified physicians who are and certified in Advanced Trauma Life Support, as well as nurses and paramedics approved in the Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum and Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Blanchard Valley Hospital is prepared to handle emergencies big and small. With certification by the American College of Surgeons, Blanchard Valley Health System is verified for excellence in treating severe injuries and medical conditions.
