Class Overview: • Physical and emotional changes and discomforts of pregnancy, hospital routines, choosing a pediatrician, relaxation and breathing during labor. There will be a licensed massage therapist to show massage skills to the support person to use before, during and after labor. • Labor overview, pain relief in labor, stages of labor and the role of the support person during each stage. • Tour of Blanchard Valley Hospital's Birthing Center and a video of the labor and delivery process. A breastfeeding segment will be taught by certified lactation consultants. • Newborn care, mom’s postpartum care, postpartum depression, immunizations and car seat safety. Presentations will be given by a health department nurse and a pediatrician.
