Cancer Team Helps Patient Overcome Fears of Cancer Diagnosis

Patricia Angles, a resident of Fostoria, OH, is a cancer survivor. While her fight with fallopian tube/ovarian cancer presented a very difficult time for her, Patricia was quick to mention the great support system she had in place. Her two sons, Doug and Donnie, and her husband of 34 years, Greg, served as her “rocks,” as they provided strong and steady encouragement and assistance. Additionally, Patricia found solace in her newfound, extended “family” at The Armes Family Cancer Care Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System.

“Every time I go in there, they are just so warm. They ask me how I’m doing. I just can’t say enough about them, they are wonderful,” Patricia said.

Before and after having surgery for her cancer, Patricia received chemotherapy treatments at the AFCCC. Naturally, Patricia said she had some nerves at the beginning of that process.

“I was pretty scared during my first visit because I’ve never been through something like that, and had a lot of anxiety,” Patricia explained. “However, the extraordinary staff comforted me and did a fabulous job. They were very loving and caring.”

Today, Patricia can happily say she is in remission. She recalls being in almost disbelief when she got the happy news.

“Without my AFCCC family and my husband, Greg, I don’t know what I would have done. I am very thankful I was able to find exceptional care close to home.”

Patricia added, “The AFCCC is unique. I would refer anybody to this amazing team and location. They literally saved my life.”
