Blanchard Valley Hospital, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, has been recognized as a “High Performing” hospital in heart attack care by U.S. News & World Report.
U.S. News recently released its Best Hospitals 2022-23 rankings and ratings, revealing that BVH is among the elite 36 percent that earned an award.
A hospital's heart attack (AMI) score is based on multiple data categories, including patient survival, discharging patients to home and more. Eligible hospitals received one of three ratings: high performing (692 hospitals), average (1,165 hospitals) or below average (858 hospitals) with the balance either not offering the service or performing too few of the procedure to be rated. Hospitals that earned a high performing rating were significantly better than the national average.
In each of the specialties, procedures, and conditions U.S. News evaluated, only 10 to 34 percent of hospitals were rated “High Performing.” Of the more than 6,000 adult hospitals in the U.S., fewer than 2,200 qualified for any type of award.
To help patients decide where to receive care, U.S. News generates hospital rankings. To be nationally ranked in a specialty, a hospital must excel in caring for the sickest, most medically complex patients.
