Injectables

Blanchard Valley Health System offers non-surgical options to soften facial lines and restore volume and fullness in the face with the latest techniques in cosmetic injectable fillers. The use of cosmetic injectable fillers, also known as soft tissue augmentation, can plump thin lips, enhance shallow facial contours, soften facial creases and wrinkles, or improve the appearance of recessed scars. These treatments can be done in a short office visit with little or no recovery time.

We can rejuvenate your appearance by diminishing numerous signs of aging, including:

  • Crow’s feet
  • Glabellar lines
  • Forehead lines
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines
  • Lipstick lines
  • Hollow cheeks
  • Thin lips

Our extensive selection of injectables includes:

Botox

The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, known as Botox®, is a purified protein injectable filler that is FDA-approved for the temporary treatment of frown lines. This simple, non-surgical injection is also commonly used to temporarily reduce or eliminate forehead creases, crow’s feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck.  The toxin blocks the nerve implulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles, while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance.

Juvederm

Juvéderm products use hyaluronic acid, a natural moisture-loving substance in the skin, to fill areas with volume loss and smooth lines, wrinkles and folds. Because it also contains lidocaine, most patients report that Juvéderm treatments are quite comfortable.

Volbella

Volbella, another Juvéderm product, is also made with hyaluronic acid. Designed to provide fuller lips, Volbella is a great choice for anyone whose lips have thinned with age, or for anyone who has always wanted fuller lips.

Voluma

Voluma is also part of the Juvéderm family of injectables and is formulated specifically to restore volume to the cheeks for a more youthful appearance.

Vollure XC

Vollure  XC, is designed to give you a smoother appearance, whether you want subtle volume or a little extra volume. Most commonly used for the correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Vollure XC is the longest-lasting HA filler in the Juvederm family, for this area- lasts up to 18 months.

Kybella

Kybella treats submental fullness, or fullness under the chin, which is a common problem encountered by both men and women. There are a variety of factors that can contribute to this problem including genetics, aging, and weight gain. However, many people with fullness of this area are not overweight and are unable to get rid of this stubborn fat despite diet and exercise.

Deoxycholic acid, also known as Kybella, was approved for use in 2015 and has revolutionized the way we treat a ‘double chin’. In the past, the only options for treating this area were liposuction and surgery. However, we now have a minimally invasive agent that provides consistent, effective results. Kybella is unique and is an FDA approved agent that improves fullness associated with submental fat. Kybella is administered in the office and is often tolerated well. Clinical studies showed the most common side effects include redness, swelling bruising, and numbness, all of which were temporary, lasting less than 4 weeks.

Kybella is best for patients whose double chin is caused by excess fat and who have mild to moderate skin excess. It is not appropriate for patients with significant excess skin.

Frequently Asked Questions about Injectables

Are injectables safe?

All of our injectable products are FDA-approved, so you know they’re safe to use.

How soon until I see results from injectables?

Dermal fillers often provide immediate results. Results from Botox can become apparent as soon as a few days to a week after treatment. Kybella results can be seen within a week or two of treatment, with continued improvement appearing gradually over time.

How long will my injectables results last?

Results can vary depending on the injectable and the patient. Botox results typically last three to four months. Dermal fillers can last up to two years, depending on the product. Kybella offers long-lasting results as long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle without drastic weight fluctuations.

How many treatments will I need?

Botox and dermal fillers can be readministered as soon as the effects dissipate, which varies from three months to two years, depending on the injectable. For optimal results, Kybella fat reduction typically requires a series of treatments over several months. Once fat cells are destroyed with Kybella, they can never return. This means that once your desired look is achieved, you will no longer need Kybella to maintain your results.

What do I need to know about downtime and side effects after injectable treatments?

With Botox or dermal fillers, the most common side effects are swelling and bruising, but many patients experience no side effects. For Kybella fat reduction, the most common side effects include swelling, bruising, or numbness under your chin, which typically resolve on their own. To fully understand what to expect after your treatment, we recommend a consultation.
