Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication (TIF)
The TIF procedure is another option for reinforcing the valve between the stomach and esophagus that is performed from inside the patient’s stomach without incisions. The procedure uses a special endoscope (camera on a long flexible tube) to wrap the floppy part of the stomach partially around the lower esophagus. It is similar to a partial fundoplication but done through the mouth from inside the stomach. This procedure works best if you do not have a hiatal hernia.
