Location Information

The COVID-19 Art Honorarium Community Project


Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS), with combined efforts from the Findlay community, is commissioning a piece of art to serve as a permanent piece to:

  • Serve as an iconic representation of the COVID-19 pandemic at Blanchard Valley Hospital
  • Honor the frontline associates for their dedication and care
  • Remember those who lost their lives to COVID-19
  • Represent the community and its resilience through the changes that have impacted our daily lives

This privately funded project will be displayed at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, Ohio.


Who May Apply?

Any artist may submit artwork. However, preference is given to artists residing in the BVHS service area. Submissions of all types of art will be accepted. Interior space can accommodate a display case which, if needed, should be included in the budget.


Where Will the Artwork Be Displayed?

The artist may choose one of the two locations listed below, based on their preference and medium:

1. Interior

  • Blanchard Valley Hospital inside the first floor of the Donnell Pavilion above the fireplace. A picture of the location is below.
  • The maximum wall space is four feet wide by ten feet tall. The artwork will need to be at the maximum size or less to be considered.

2. Exterior

  • Outside in front of the Donnell Pavilion. A picture of the location is below.
  • The maximum dimension of six feet wide by six feet long by ten feet tall. The artwork will need to be at the maximum size or less to be considered.

Who Will Be Selecting the Artwork?

The art selection panel will be a collective effort from community members, Blanchard Valley Health System associates and a local artist.


Art Selection Process

The focus will be on excellence in concept, technique and expression toward the aforementioned themes. Submissions of qualifications will be reviewed by the committee. Up to three finalists will be asked to interview with the committee between June 22 and June 30, 2021. Once the committee chooses a final artist, the artist will be awarded the contract.


What is the Timeline?

  • May 7, 2021 – announcement of RFP
  • June 15, 2021 – Concept of art submission due by artists
  • June 22 through June 30, 2021 – Finalists invited to present concept art at the committee meeting
  • July 1, 2021 – Contract awarded to one artist
  • October 28, 2021 – Completed artwork due
  • November 1, 2021 – Community Event
  • November 4, 2021 – Art will be displayed at Marathon Center for Performing Arts during Findlay ArtWalk
  • November 2021 – VIP event and move art to a permanent location. Date and time to be determined


Application Requirements & Materials to be Submitted

Commission Amount

The artist will request commission based on the submitted artwork.


Payment Schedule for Finalist 

  • ¼ at time of contract
  • ¼ at August 12, 2021 progression check
  • ¼ at September 25, 2021 progression check
  • ¼ at delivery of artwork
