Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's)
When do I start?
Rotation will start on the first weekday of the month (unless otherwise discussed with the preceptor). Plan to meet at the Center for Medication Management in the main hospital at 11 a.m. on the first day. Typical hours are 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., but may vary depending on the rotation.
Where do I park?
On the first day of rotations, you can park in the visitor’s parking lot. During the tour and orientation the exact parking location will be explained. Parking will be in the associate lot off Highland Drive.
Where will I meet?
You will meet in the Outpatient Pharmacy (Center for Medication Management).
What do I need to bring?
Students should bring their rotation portfolio (intern license, vaccination, etc). Again, a white lab coat and name badges are required while in patient care areas. You can bring any reference material or handheld reference devices if you choose.
What about the required drug screen?
Blanchard Valley requires a standard 10 drug screenings within 30 days of your first rotation at Blanchard Valley Hospital. You will need to be able to show these results if asked by our human resource department. Blanchard Valley does not require a copy of the results. If you are unable to have this test performed before coming to Findlay, our local testing site, Well at Work, can perform this test for a monetary fee. This can be done on the first day of rotations before coming to the hospital.
What about meals?
Food is not provided at this rotation. Our hospital does have a cafeteria where food can be purchased. Students will also have access to a refrigerator and microwave if you choose to bring your lunch.
Do I need to prepare before this rotation?
Required readings are posted on the website for the respective rotations. You should be familiar with these readings, but they will be discussed throughout the rotation. Please fill out a password request form and fax to the Pharmacy Department 419.423.5167, attention Michael Leifheit.
