Blanchard Valley Health System wants our hospital pricing to be transparent and easy for patients to understand.
This estimate will be personalized for each patient. The BVHS pricing tool can estimate how much would be paid by the patient's health insurance plan. The estimate will be based on their plan benefits. We can explain the deductible, co-pay and co-insurance.
Shoppable Services
BVHS wants to make it simple for patients to find pricing for our hospitals. And assist in making health insurance discounts easy to understand. The BVHS pricing tool is for services provided at Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bluffton Hospital. This information includes common services that patients might be shopping for, such as labs, CTs, MRIs and other outpatient services. If a service is not listed, we can still help. Many health insurance plans have negotiated a certain rate with our hospitals. In each patient estimate, the amount listed for the service includes the negotiated rate. For example, if the BVHS price is $100, and the patient's insurance has a 5% discount at our hospitals, the estimate will show $95 as the amount due for the service. The “Negotiated Payer Rate” is the amount that will be billed to the insurance company. The “Estimated Patient Responsibility” is the estimated amount to be paid by the patient.
Insurance may cover none, some, or all of the cost of your care. It depends on your health plan benefits. If you have questions about your personal estimate, please call our Patient Estimates team at 419.425.5252. Our team can help patients understand the amount they would pay, including their estimated deductible, co-pay and co-insurance.
BVHS has made every effort to provide an accurate estimate of planned services. Patients are still responsible for their bill even if it differs from the information provided. For some services, patients may also receive a separate bill from their surgeon, anesthesiologist, radiologist, and/or other provider.

Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bluffton Hospital are committed to providing assistance to patients or responsible parties in determining financial obligations. This assistance includes education, as well as the exploration of options for support and/or payment. Under no circumstances will a patient be denied medically necessary care based on financial status. Our goal is to make every resource available to help patients understand their payment options.
Patients may also be eligible for financial assistance under the Blanchard Valley Health System financial assistance policies or the Ohio Hospital Care Assurance Program (HCAP). Patients who do not have the means to pay for necessary healthcare services can apply for this assistance through Blanchard Valley Health System’s financial advocacy programs. Patients can call the BVHS business office at 419.423.5310 to find out if they might qualify.
COVID-19 Diagnostic Testing
The cash price for COVID-19 diagnostic testing is $200. This price is for both Blanchard Valley Hospital and Bluffton Hospital.
