Pulmonary Rehab
Living with difficulty breathing can be overwhelming. Pulmonary Rehab at BVHS is a medically supervised exercise and education program designed to help you learn how to breathe easier and live an improved quality of life. Our team of specially trained doctors, nurses and exercise physiologists work closely with you, combining lifestyle education with exercise to accomplish that goal.
Conditions where Pulmonary Rehab may be needed to include COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, lung cancer, asthma, pulmonary hypertension, sleep apnea or pre- / post-lung surgery.
Pulmonary Rehab at BVHS is a two-phase program:
Phase II
A strictly supervised outpatient program consisting of close monitoring and individualized education and exercise programs prescribed by specially-trained pulmonary rehabilitation professionals. Participation is generally two to three times per week for up to 36 sessions.
Phase III/IV Maintenance
Allows for a smooth transition from our strictly supervised Phase II to a progressively non-supervised, independent program. Although independent-oriented, you will always have direct access to our knowledgeable staff for any assistance you might need.
Payment: Most major insurance carriers, including Medicare, cover the majority of the cost associated with Phase II. Phase III/IV is typically not covered; However, we have structured our program to provide you with these services at a reasonable cost.
The Pulmonary Rehab program is located in the Heminger Heart and Vascular Center on the second floor of the Ruse Center at Blanchard Valley Hospital. For additional information, please contact us at 419.423.5153.
