Bridge Hospice, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, is pleased to announce Grief Trails 2025, a specialized day camp designed to support children and teens who have experienced the loss of a loved one. This unique program will be held at Challenged Champions Equestrian Center (11913 County Road 6, Ottawa, Ohio), blending grief support with hands-on equestrian activities in a compassionate, peer-supported environment.
Grief Trails 2025 offers two age-specific sessions:
- Ages 6–11: Monday, July 21, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
- Ages 12–18: Monday, July 28, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Registration is required by June 2.
Grief Trails is built on the understanding that although children and teens may appear unaffected by loss, they often carry deep questions, fears, and emotions. This special program provides a safe and supportive space where participants can process their feelings in a healthy and constructive way. Through activities with gentle horses, arts and crafts, outdoor fun, and guided group discussions, attendees will explore the importance of expressing emotions and building resilience.
This year’s theme, “In My Healing Era,” encourages youth to embrace their healing journey while learning essential coping skills and self-care strategies. The teen group will also focus on peer interaction and self-rejuvenation.
Led by Bridge Bereavement Services staff and trained volunteers, the day includes horseback riding, grief support activities, the creation of meaningful keepsakes, and opportunities for emotional connection and personal growth.
Grief Trails is offered free of charge to all families. Lunch, beverages, and all program materials are provided.
