What is LPR?
LPR stands for Laryngopharyngeal Reflux and is used to describe the constellation of symptoms that include chronic cough, voice hoarseness, difficulty swallowing, and frequent throat clearing. It is sometimes also called "silent reflux" due to not necessarily triggering the usual symptoms of acid reflux such as heartburn. The exact cause of LPR symptoms is not completely understood but is thought to be related to GERD.
