Blanchard Valley Health System Welcomes Dr. Jarrod Uhrig to Endocrinology & Diabetes Specialists of Northwest Ohio

Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) is excited to welcome Jarrod Uhrig, DO, to the
expert team of physicians and providers at Endocrinology & Diabetes Specialists of Northwest Ohio, now located at Wellness Park. Dr. Uhrig is a board-certified diabetologist specializing in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of diabetes.
Dr. Uhrig has seven years of specialized experience in the treatment and management of diabetes. Before joining BVHS, he worked both at the Family and Community Medicine Diabetes Clinic and the Department of Endocrinology at Carilion Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia. While there, he also served as an assistant professor at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, where he used his expertise to teach and mentor the next generation of physicians. His professional interests lie in the use of diabetes technology. He has also served on numerous policy-making committees at various institutions, where he worked to ensure that protocols remain up to date and that patient safety was always prioritized.

Dr. Uhrig received a Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry and Pre-Medicine from Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio. He then studied medicine at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He remained in Athens, where he completed an internship and residency in Family Medicine at OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital. He then completed his diabetes fellowship at the East Carolina University Brody School of Medicine and Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina.
Dr. Uhrig holds board certifications from the American College of Diabetology and the American Osteopathic Association. Additionally, he has served as a representative-at-large on the Board of Directors for the American College of Diabetology, demonstrating his commitment to service within his profession.
“I am excited to join the team at BVHS to assist in the care of people living with diabetes in our community,” said Dr. Uhrig. “Diabetes is a challenging disease with rapidly evolving treatment options. My goal is to help patients succeed with safe and effective care.”
