Blanchard Valley Health System to Host “Dementia Friends” Community Session: Free educational program aims to build a more dementia-inclusive community

Lindsey BuddelmeyerBlanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) invites community members to attend an upcoming Dementia Friends – Community Member Session on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay, located on the first floor of the Donnell Patient Pavilion, Aller Meeting Room.

Dementia Friends is an informational session designed to help individuals better understand dementia and learn simple, meaningful ways to support those affected. Participants will gain insight into effective communication techniques and best practices for interacting with individuals experiencing memory challenges, as well as practical steps to help create a more dementia-inclusive community.

“This session is an opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and build greater awareness and understanding around dementia,” said Lindsey Buddelmeyer, OTD, MOT, OTR/L, leadership education & training specialist at BVHS. “By equipping individuals with knowledge and practical tools, we can make a meaningful difference for patients, caregivers, and families.”

The session is open to anyone interested in learning more about dementia, including caregivers, family members, business owners, service professionals, church and community groups, students, and volunteers. Attendance is limited to 30 participants.

This 90-minute session is offered at no cost, and all attendees will receive access to educational materials and resources to support individuals living with dementia, as well as their caregivers and families.
