Respiratory Therapy
Blanchard Valley Health System offers evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of those with disorders of the respiratory system. We offer a full-range of pulmonary services including:
EEG
An EEG, or electroencephalogram, evaluates the electric activity the brain produces. This is used to diagnose or rule out certain conditions, most commonly seizure disorders, headaches, tumors, heads injuries or a stroke.
The test involves painlessly monitoring brain activity through electrodes, possibly breathing with hyperventilation and a (photic) flashing light test.
Pulmonary Function Testing
Pulmonary function testing is a good tool for evaluating the respiratory system. This testing includes performing a series of studies or breathing maneuvers based on what is ordered by the physician.
Those receiving this testing may be given an inhaler or MDI (breathing medication) by the testing technician. After this, a few of the previous breathing maneuvers will be repeated to evaluate how well the medication worked.
