Local Teacher Chooses Minimally-Invasive Hysterectomy
The shorter recovery time got her back sooner to family and students
Jennifer, a third-grade teacher at a local school, had been experiencing women’s health issues for several years - and always looming in the back of her mind was a worry about her family history of ovarian cancer. In order to learn more about a potential course of action, she contacted Blanchard Valley Obstetrics & Gynecology, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System.
The mother of two partnered with Sarah Weihrauch PA-C, a physician assistant, and Dr. Lorie Thomas-Schultz, a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology, to determine health options.
After testing and careful evaluation, it was determined that a hysterectomy was Jennifer’s next step.
Jennifer commented that BVHS team members “answered her questions and were with her every step of the way.”
The type of minimally-invasive hysterectomy Jennifer underwent allowed her to resume normal life almost immediately. Modern technology and physician expertise ensured few incisions and minimal discomfort.
“I feel like I have had an enormous weight lifted off my shoulders,” Jennifer said. “I encourage any woman with similar concerns to discuss their options with Blanchard Valley Obstetrics & Gynecology.”
