Blanchard Valley Hospital Acute Rehabilitation Unit

Getting you home as healthy, safely, and quickly as possible following a traumatic injury.

The Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) opened an Acute Rehabilitation Unit (ARU) on the 4th floor of Blanchard Valley Hospital in 2024.

This 12-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit helps patients who have experienced the debilitating effects of an acute injury, impairment, or illness and can withstand a minimum of 3-hours of rehabilitation each day.

Adding to the spectrum of care at BVHS

Patients will now be completely covered within BVHS from the moment of their debilitating injury or diagnosis to the time they are living safely at home once again. Previously, patients needing this level of intensive rehabilitation were sent outside BVHS' network to receive treatment.

For patients and their families, the ARU will save countless hours driving to and from appointments and will provide top-quality care, close to home.

Acute Rehab is a proven success story

Acute inpatient rehabilitation ensures you are cared for by a team that understands your individual situation and is dedicated to helping you recover as quickly as possible. Patients treated with inpatient rehabilitation have had positive results compared to standard rehab patients, being able to:

  • Go home sooner
  • Have greater success walking independently again
  • Receive more doctor and nurse time and attention, including regular visits by their doctor
  • Have lower rates of readmission to the hospital during or after treatment.
