William's Whirlwind Entry into the World

Every birth story is unique and entertaining in hindsight.  My husband, Jonathan, and I arrived at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay near the beginning of the work shift on 11/17/17 to welcome our second child.  The trip was two weeks earlier than expected but there was no turning back since my water broke at home.  After being admitted our nurse, Jamie, got us situated in our room and began my IV and penicillin.  My labor slowly progressed throughout the remainder of the morning and in the early afternoon I was in a lot of pain and my contractions were getting closer together.  I did not want an epidural or other medications during labor and Jamie did not push me to have any.  She helped keep me comfortable through my labor by letting me walk around and bounce on an exercise ball.  Finally, shortly after a bathroom break and reattaching the contraction and heart monitors I knew my new baby was coming with or without the doctor.  Jon hit the call button to get our nurse and in less than a minute we had a whole room full of people, including Jamie who delivered our second son, William, because he arrived so quickly.  When our doctor arrived she was informed of everything that had just happened and continued our care.  The entire team of health professionals did a great job in the whirlwind of activities that took place preceding and immediately following the birth of William.  The remainder of our stay was uneventful, but we will never forget the way and the people who helped us welcome William into this world.
