Hospice
The hospice philosophy affirms death as a natural part of life, seeking neither to hasten nor prolong the dying process. Skilled staff and volunteers at Bridge Hospice offer a holistic approach in caring for the terminally ill and their families, meeting the patient’s medical needs and providing emotional, spiritual and social support for family members. Bridge Hospice nurses have training and experience in the care of terminally ill patients, and with our services a hospice nurse is always on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Those who are eligible for hospice care have a limited life expectancy and are no longer receiving curative treatment. As part of hospice care, we provide:
- Pain Management & Symptom Control
- Medical Supervision
- Skilled Nursing Assessment & Guidance
- Bereavement Support
- Personal Care
- Trained Volunteer Assistance
Bridge Hospice can provide care in the home, nursing homes/assisted living facilities, independent living facilities and our inpatient hospice care centers in Findlay and Bowling Green. Learn more about why patients and families choose Bridge Hospice.
When should you ask about hospice?
When you or a loved one is diagnosed with an end-stage illness, it is important to learn about your options and the benefits of hospice care. Many people state that they regret not requesting hospice care earlier. Anyone can call for information and a free consultation. If hospice care is chosen, our team will help your family easily transition to hospice.
Why call hospice?
Hospice care is designed for patients who have months rather than years to live; however, most people don’t access hospice care until the last days of life. By calling hospice sooner, you and your loved ones will have the opportunity to experience the care, compassion, comfort and support that hospice can provide. Specially trained staff helps patients live life to the fullest with dignity while encouraging spiritual and emotional healing.
Hospice care is not giving up!
When patients choose hospice, they are switching the focus of their medical care, not giving up.
Hospice helps to provide comfort, dignity and improve quality of life. If the patient shows improvement in condition or wishes to return to curative treatment, they can be discharged from hospice at any time. Hospice is not a one-way street.
Most hospice patients do not have any out-of-pocket expenses. Medicare Part A covers up to 100% of the cost of hospice care related to a hospice-eligible patient’s illness, with no deductible or copayment.
