Be prepared for the arrival of your new family member by learning what to expect during your pregnancy and labor, as well as how to care for your new baby. View and sign up for our classes online.
Pre-registration
Patients may pre-register by picking up a pre-registration form at the hospital or physician’s office, requesting that one be mailed, or register online.
Items to Bring to the Hospital
For Mom
- ID /insurance card
- Phone charger (some parents bring an extra-long cord to reach while in bed)
- Baby book (we can put baby footprints in them)
- Lip balm
- Comfort items (pillow & hair tie)
- Contacts/glasses
- Nightgown, bathrobe & slippers
- If planning to nurse your baby, bring a breast pump if you have one and would like help learning how to use
- Socks & underwear (several pairs)
- Toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, lotion & deodorant, hairbrush
- Comfy clothes and an outfit to wear home. Plan on clothes that fit at five months of pregnancy
- “Nice-to-have” items – cozy blanket, a tablet for watching movies and overnight items the patient’s partner may need.
For Baby
- Clothes for baby to wear home such as an onesie, socks, a blanket, and any cold-weather gear if it’s chilly outside
- Car Seat (It’s best to have the car seat already secure in the vehicle and know how to use it before coming to the hospital)
- Pediatrician’s contact information. View a list of Blanchard Valley Medical Practice pediatricians and family medicine providers. The doctors and nurses will ask for this information several times, so it’s good to have it handy. Include the phone number for the pediatrician’s office so they can easily forward the baby’s medical records.
