Special Care Nursery at BVH
Sometimes, babies need a little extra care in their first days of life. The Blanchard Valley Hospital Special Care Nursery provides this care from specially trained nurses, doctors and staff members. The Special Care Nursery at Blanchard Valley Hospital is designated as a Level 2 nursery, meaning we can care for most babies born at 32-weeks gestation or later – allowing most infants born at Blanchard Valley Hospital to stay close to home.
For those babies that cannot be treated at BVH, we are proud to partner with Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) to ensure infants can be immediately transferred to NCH. Sometimes these babies will remain at Nationwide Children’s Hospital until they are able to go home, and other times they only require a short stay in Columbus before finishing their care in Findlay.
BVH also has connections with several other tertiary care centers. Parents have a choice on which health center their baby is transferred to for additional care.
