We Have a Survivorship Mindset
When you come to Blanchard Valley Health System (BVHS) for your cancer care, we have a survivorship mindset from the very start of our conversations. Our oncology nurse navigator is a part of those conversations as an integral member of your support team - because supporting our patients is our top priority. Fighting cancer is tough - and it takes an entire team on your side.
Team Approach Through Every Aspect of Care
Your team consists of dozens of members - collaborating for the very best plan - and outcomes - possible. They meet regularly, so all members can bring up care considerations that affect your day-to-day life. Patient navigators and financial advocates participate in every meeting to alert the team of issues or concerns with balancing practical and physical considerations such as insurance, transportation or physical changes while going through treatment. Survivorship is not just surviving cancer; it is surviving the entire burden of a cancer diagnosis.
A System of Care Supports Patients in Survivorship
With care at BVHS, patients have an entire system of clinical excellence committed to their long-term health and wellness. Cancer survivorship includes ongoing and vigilant monitoring and perhaps nutrition counseling to stay healthy. In addition, survivors may require specialized care such as oncoplastic surgery, oncofertility or oncocardiology. Your BVHS team will support ongoing clinical and support needs so survivors can thrive.
Resources Available for Continued Wellness
BVHS provides a comprehensive Health Library with resources for smoking cessation and staying healthy. In addition, The American Cancer Society offers helpful resources for cancer survivors to manage life after cancer treatment. Learn more from these valuable national resources:
